The 3D interface era…

We’ve all seen our own fair share of 3-Dimensional interfaces. Mostly from Sci-Fi movies such as Minority Report or Iron Man. Not too sure what I’m talking about? Here’s a few pictures to freshen your memory.

It’s what they like to do in movies. Control the computer with hand movements, throw applications from window to window to 3D hologram projectors with mere hand gestures. I’m sure most people think that it’s a really cool idea, but probably thought that it’s still quite far off into the future right?

That was what I thought anyway. I know that science and technology will probably make it a reality in time, but probably not any time soon. So imagine my surprise when I heard that not only is this technology available NOW but it’s also for SALE!

This is where Mgestyk comes into play. Not only has Mgestyk successfully created a working prototype, you can even sign up for their waiting list already! Well, unfortunately for us it’s nothing as fancy as Tom Cruise’s interface or Robert Downey Jr’s toy, but hey it’s still quite a cool concept isn’t it?

There’s a video on youtube that they hosted which shows off what it is capable of. From Guitar Hero to Flight Simulator to Firefox, Mgestyk’s gesture control can do quite a lot of things. However, it does look quite clumsy and there’s a slight lag in response. Of course, it’s not out yet so these small issues might be attended to by the time it is launched. Anyway, here’s the video!

  1. Well I am quite eager for that kind of interface to become widely available, partly because it tunes in quite well to the way I think.

  2. Well what i really do hope for is the kind of hybrid touch screen/3D interface kind of thing, like they have in Minority Report xD

  3. Gestures Control usually for Disabilities People …
Now they can win us in War Games …
